Summer's Super at The Health Adventure!

Roll In to Check Out Raceways!

Kids of all ages are having a ball at our newest exhibit, Raceways!

An interactive exploration of the science of motion, the exhibit offers guests hands-on fun with physics. Golf balls are sent looping, racing, spinning and zinging over ramps, on tracks and through chutes in six interactive stations. The stations provide a chance to experiment with energy, friction, momentum, gravity, acceleration, distance and velocity. Games challenge skill and judgment through scientific experimentation while fun science facts provide the opportunity to learn about Newton and Galileo's basic principles of objects in motion.

You and your family can get loopy with "The Roller Coaster," an exhibit area that challenges visitors to guess how many hills a golf ball can climb. At "The Big U," skateboarding fans can learn about friction, energy and momentum. Other activities include "Hit the Bucket," "Loop the Loop," "Ski Jump" and "The Spiral."

Raceways will be at The Health Adventure until September 10. Major funding for the exhibit has been provided by Eaton Corporation.

Join us for Ramp It Up!, a Raceways Family Day
Saturday, September 2 at 11:00a.m.
An expert from PUSH Skate Shop will join us to illustrate how friction, energy, gravity and momentum factor in to basic skateboarding techniques. At noon, head to the Food Lion Skate Park to observe a half-hour demonstration that will highlight safety and science principles, as well as the latest tricks and trends in skateboarding.
This program is free to members or with museum admission.

Laugh For the Health of It at The Health Adventure's Inaugural Red Riot Party!

Join us for a night of laughter at The Health Adventure's Inaugural Red Riot Party, at Pack Place onSaturday, August 19 starting at 7:00 p.m.

As part of the museum's Humor Is Healthy campaign, the event will celebrate the importance of humor in health and wellness. Comedy sketches and stand-up by local comedians will be the highlights of the evening. The lineup includes:

Tom Chalmers
As the former Artistic Director of NYC's Gotham City Improv/Groundlings East, Tom Chalmers knows funny. Hehas taught comedy writing and performing for manyyears, and recently starred in The Santaland Diaries at the Asheville Community Theatre.

Mark Andrews
Listeners of Star 104.3 already know about morning host Mark Andrews' humor, but guests to the Red Riot Party will see what happens when a deejay has a live audience! Mark has performed stand-up at numerous Myrtle Beach hot spots and is ready to turn his humor loosein Asheville.

Susan Reinhardt
Susan's perfect mix of sophisticated wit and down-home charm has resulted in a bona fide cult-like following of her column in the Asheville Citizen-Times. Her new book, "Not Tonight Honey, Wait 'Til I'm a Size Six!" has received rave reviews, and her performance at the Red Riot Party will surely be one to remember.

Jim Taylor& Joey Moore
As fans of their groups Simple Folk and Tuxedo Junction will attest, these two can't do or say or sing anything without a healthy dose of humor. Look for favorite songs and zany banter from these two genuine institutions of the Asheville music scene.

Tickets to the Red Riot Party are $10 each. Call (828) 254-6373, Ext. 307 for tickets or more information.
