ASHEVILLE — More than 2,000 students from across Western North Carolina will go under the big top to learn the importance of dental health at The Health Adventure’s Tooth Town Circus during the month of February.

Developed by the education staff of the museum, Tooth Town Circus provides a fun, interactive introduction to the basics of dental health. Students will hear the story of Jamal, a little boy who loves everything about the circus: the animals, the clowns, the tightrope walkers, and especially the sticky, sugary treats like cotton candy and candy apples.

At a trip to the dentist, Jamal learns he has a small cavity. When he goes to sleep that night, Jamal dreams of a very peculiar circus — one in which animal tamers tame plaque germs with toothbrushes and tightrope walkers balance on dental floss, and the ringmaster is none other than his dentist.

As educators present the program, students will be invited to dress in costumes to help tell the story.
