THE HEALTH ADVENTURE CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS IN A HANDS-ON WAY WITH ITS ORIGAMI WORKSHOP
ASHEVILLE – Celebrate the holidays with The Health Adventure and learn just how math and art combine in a creative way during the museum’s upcoming origami workshop.
The Health Adventure will be hosting a special program exploring the ancient Japanese art of origami on Saturday, December 8. Paper is provided and all levels of folders are welcome. Two sessions will be offered: Beginners from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Intermediate/Advanced from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Recommended for children ages six and above, the workshop explores how math is a part of the art of paper folding. The program is free for members or with museum admission.
Guests can also take in the beauty of origami from across the country with The Health Adventure’s holiday tree. An annual tradition of the museum, the tree features unique pieces created and donated by folders near and far. The traditional Japanese art form takes a fanciful turn with the theme of this year’s tree, Creatures of Fantasy. Unicorns, dragons, centaurs, wizards and more adorn the branches and spark the imagination.
The holiday tree will be on display through December 31.
