AUTHOR BETH SNOKE HARRIS TO PROVIDE SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT INSPIRATION AT THE HEALTH ADVENTURE
ASHEVILLE – Bring your budding scientist to The Health Adventure for science fair project inspiration and fun hands-on demonstrations.
The museum will be hosting a book signing by author Beth Snoke Harris on Wednesday, February 13 at 12:00 p.m. Harris is the author of four books, including First Place Science Fair Projects for Inquisitive Kids and Crime Scene Science Fair Projects. Her most recently published book, Yikes! Wow! Yuck! Fun Experiments for Your First Science Fair, is a guide for younger children new to the science fair scene.
Harris has been in science education for more than 10 years. Her past experience includes time as a physics teacher and outreach coordinator for The Science House at North Carolina State University. Harris currently serves as a science educator at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute. She is also working on her fifth book, which will focus on environmental science, with topics ranging from alternative energies to the causes of global warming.
Following the book signing, three demonstration stations will provide hands-on fun with science. Color Confusion will have visitors scrambling to arrange bottles of water. At Dominoes, visitors will test a variety of configurations to see which has the dominoes falling the quickest. And Whirly Gig will use the phenomenon of a falling maple seed to explore motion.
Books will be available for purchase in the museum’s gift shop, The Explore Store. This event is free for members or with museum admission.
