 Summer Camp Volunteer Internships

Program Description:  Each summer, The Health Adventure offers six weeks of hands-on science camp programs to students in grades 1-6. These interactive camp programs are designed to provide fun, educational activities about a variety of science topics.

Internship Duties:  Interns are needed to assist during summer camp preparations and week-long camp sessions. Interns will prepare materials for camp, test and set up activities, supervise campers during camp programs, and assist staff as needed during the camp season. Interns function as assistants to the camp teachers throughout the camp session. Interns will also gain experience in our office in camp preparations, marketing, scheduling, and other departments.

Internship Goals:  This internship seeks to provide experience in science teaching, program preparation, and administrative program support through direct involvement with our staff and guests.  Interns will gain experience in camp programming, teaching, and guest interactions.

Time:  Interns are needed throughout the summer from early June through the end of July. These intern positions are full time and provide approximately 30 hours per week, working Monday-Friday 8:30-2:30 or 10:00-5:15 depending on the camp program. Scheduled hours include half-day camp sessions, a half-hour required lunch break, and two additional hours of behind-the-scenes camp duties to be assigned by camp staff. Interns must be willing to commit to a regular schedule.  Positions are available from Monday, June 2 to Friday, July 18 with exact schedule dependent on camp programs. Full days are not available.

Requirements:  We are looking for interns with experience in education who demonstrate reliability and who are comfortable working with children in an educational environment. Previous teaching or camp experience a plus.

Number of Positions:  Internship positions are available during the following weeks: June 2-6 (two positions—camp preparations only); June 9-13 (one position); June 16-20 (one position); June 23-27 (1 position), July 7-11 (one position); and July 14-18 (one position).  Interested applicants should apply for multiple weeks.

All positions are unpaid.

Application Process:  Interested applicants may apply by submitting an application form (PDF), cover letter, and resume to:
