Time at The Health Adventure is time on task! Programs at The Health Adventure are referenced by the Competancy Goals from the NC Standard Course of Study. In addition, each class is taught by professional health and science educators. Below are the details for scheduling your group. You can find information about the various programs offered and the appropriate age group for each program by downloading the comprehensive Teachers Guide [2009-2010].

Please schedule your visit at least 2 weeks in advance as space is limited.

  1. Programs offered August – January, 2009 may include 30 additional minutes for museum exploration. For programs offered February – June, 2010, the 30 minute exploration time will not be available.
  2. Refer to the chart (back inside cover of program guide) to see which programs are available for your grade level. Please note: some programs are available only during the fall of 2009, and some are available only during the spring of 2010. Costs for classes are listed on page 15 of the program guide.
  3. Find the descriptions of the programs you are interested in. Programs are listed and described in alphabetical order. NC Standard Course of Study Competency Goals are listed for each grade and program.
  4. Choose several possible dates in case your first choice is not available.  
  5. During August-January, classes are offered Monday - Friday at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., Noon and 1:30 p.m. Later afternoon programs are available by special arrangement – just ask. During February-June, groups are scheduled hourly, Monday - Friday , starting at 9 a.m.
  6. Outreach programs at your school (see pages 11-12 of the program guide) are available Monday - Friday.
  7. Call our School Scheduler:  Monday - Friday between 9 a.m.-noon and 1 p.m.- 5 p.m.

The Fine Print
  • Chaperones are required for school groups. Teachers, drivers, and one-on-one aides are admitted free. Additional adults pay student price for the programs. Memberships do not apply to school programs.
  • Pack Place is accessible to individuals with disabilities. At the time of your scheduling call, please let the School Scheduler know if anyone in your group has special needs.
  • A confirmation form, guidelines, museum map, and parking map are mailed prior to your visit. Please review these materials before your trip!
  • Check for accuracy, sign and return one copy along with a non-refundable $10 deposit within 10 days to hold your reservation. The deposit is applied to your program cost.
  • Cancellations less than 10 days prior to the scheduled program will be billed $50, or the cost of the visit, whichever is less. The only exception is school closings due to inclement weather. If Asheville City Schools close due to weather conditions, classes beginning before noon will be cancelled.
  • If ordering lunches through The Health Adventure, please refer to menu on page 16 of the program guide.
