 The Asheville Area Directors of Volunteers in Agencies (DOVIA) hosts an annual volunteer recognition banquet during National Volunteer Week in April. This banquet honors the incredible service provided by volunteers working for local agencies and organizations throughout Buncombe County. Each nonprofit in the area is invited to honor three of their outstanding volunteers at a special luncheon held at the Crest Center in Asheville.
This year, The Health Adventure was happy to honor volunteers Stephani Pelchat and Mark and Lisa Knollman. Stephani Pelchat is a student intern from UNCA who worked primarily with our education staff throughout the school year. “Stephani is a reliable, good natured, and extremely motivated volunteer,” said staff educator Jen Stump. “She will do anything, from teaching kindergarteners about scary plaque germs to designing and erupting volcanoes. She is a true treasure and asset to any organization!”
Mark and Lisa Knollman chose to celebrate Mark’s 50th birthday with a benefit concert for The Health Adventure, held in Diana Wortham Theatre. Thanks to their creative generosity and Mark’s musical abilities, the concert was one of our most successful fundraisers ever!
