The Health Adventure is happy to offer volunteer opportunities for this year’s Discover Science Summer Camp!  These opportunities are available to both new and returning volunteers.  Volunteers ages 14 and older are welcome during both “Young Adventurers” camps, June 15-19 and June 22-26.  Volunteers age 16 and older are welcome at both “Young Adventurers” and “Discover Science” camps. • Volunteer duties involve assisting during drop-off/pickup times, coordinating games and activities during snack and lunch times, and helping campers with camp activities.
• Volunteers must complete a written application (available by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator) and come for an in-person interview with our staff.
• All volunteers must attend an orientation/training session.  Orientation for “Young Adventurers” volunteers will be held on Thursday, June 12 from 3:00-4:30 p.m.  Orientation for “Discover Science” volunteers will be held on Thursday, July 9 from 3:00-4:30 p.m.
• For continuity with our teachers and campers, we ask that volunteers commit to an entire week of camp, mornings or afternoons (i.e., the July 13-17 morning Surfin’ Safari program).
• To allow maximum participation of all qualified applicants, volunteers will be assigned to only one camp session.  Volunteers may work half-days only (i.e., the morning OR the afternoon session during any available week).  Additional slots may become available and will be offered to volunteers based on exceptional performance.  Returning volunteers may, with approval of camp staff, ask to volunteer for two weeks of half-day camps.
• Volunteers must have their own transportation to and from The Health Adventure each day.
• All volunteers must attend the 2009 Camp Celebration and Debriefing on Friday, July 31st  from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided.
