The Health Adventure has been known for its innovative educational model for 40 years and has even achieved international acclaim.

In 2000, a group of dedicated educators from Sweden opened a new educational facility based on previous visits to The Health Adventure. Delegates from Uppsala, including county council and municipality members, hospital staff and educators, were so excited and inspired after their visit that they decided to create a similar organization in their hometown.

In 2000, a group of dedicated educators from Sweden opened a new educational facility based on previous visits to The Health Adventure. Delegates from Uppsala, including county council and municipality members, hospital staff and educators, were so excited and inspired after their visit that they decided to create a similar organization in their hometown.

Today, that organization employs five educators who work full-time to compliment compulsory schoolwork and health education and works to improve health awareness and promote wellness lifestyles for children and the teachers who work with them.

"In May 2005 we visited Asheville and our "mother ship" (The Health Adventure), which was a tremendous experience for us, and gave us tons of new ideas and courage to start working on a bigger vision for our Healthadventure and for Uppsala. It was fun to see that even though we are so different in size and location we also have so much in common. Since our visit we've been developing a concept that includes both education and fun for everybody. We would like to create a huge experience and health education center in Uppsala and we've already come a long way... So apart from the interesting and fun experience it was to visit you, you all inspired us to really DARE TO DREAM. We can not thank you all enough for taking such good care of us and also for being such a great inspiration for us."
