Happy August, Volunteers!
August 23, 2007

Greetings!

Happy August! I hope the summer has been an enjoyable one for all of you. Things at The Health Adventure have been hopping! We had a GREAT year of summer camps with some amazing campers, volunteers, and interns. It truly takes a village to pull off our camp season, and we had a "dream team" this year.

We also hosted our 2007 Red Riot Party on August 18, which was a grand success. Featuring novelty jazz band Hot Duck Soup, comedian Susan Reinhardt, local radio host Mark Andrews of Star 104.3, and storyteller David Novak, guests had a great opportunity to exercise their laugh muscles, practice the value of a good belly laugh, and generally engage in mass hilarity. With fabulous food by Tomato Jam and guests decked out in red, the party truly was a riot!

The Health Adventure is also looking ahead to a big day in our future. Stay tuned for more information around Asheville (andbelow...)

As the school year begins, we're starting to see groups in the museum for classes and programs, so it's nice to see students in the building again. Teacher guide delivery has begun, and reservations are coming in. Many groups are also enjoying their last chance to see the "Magic School Bus" exhibit. This exhibit closes in September...if you haven't been by, it's a great exhibit!

Next on our exhibits schedule is "From Here to There", opening on October 5. Developed by the Rochester Museum and Science Center of Rochester, NY, the exhibit features hands-on stations where guests can lift, launch, and levitate as they experiment with gravity, friction, and the laws of motion. From hovercrafts and rockets to sail boats and canals, the exhibit will be hands-on fun for all ages.

I hope the end of your summer is cool. Before we know it, the leaves will be turning and the weather will cool, so enjoy the last pool days!

Mo to Come!

Have you seen the billboards? Heard the radio ads? Visited the website?

If you haven't...well...take a look! I can't tell you exactly what this is all about, but I can say to mark your calendars now for Sept. 18, 2007 and watch the news for some exciting revelations. You can also play along by visitingthe Mo website...www.getmofromlife.com. There's even a contest to guess what Mo might be...new clues are released every Thursday. You can also read Mo's blog, see a video from Bele Chere, and more!

Play on the website and keep your eye on the The Health Adventure on Sept. 18!
