Parking is often times a difficult matter in downtown Asheville. There is ample parking on the various streets of downtown, however, the meters must be fed hourly or you risk getting a parking ticket. The safest, and sometimes least expensive option, is to park in one of the many parking garages near Pack Square. The rates for the parking decks are:

Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 6:59 PM - Free for the first hour, $0.50 - $0.75 per hour
After 7 PM and Weekends - A flat fee of $1.00 to $2.00 (there are no attendants to give change during these times)
SPECIAL EVENTS - For special events, the flat fees increase to about $5.00 - $8.00

These parking decks are located:

  • Civic Center Parking Deck, entered from either Haywood Street (near Pack Public Library) or Rankin Avenue (below Civic Center)
  • Rankin Avenue Parking Deck, entered from either Ranking Avenue or Walnut Street (near Haywood Street)
  • Wall Street Parking Deck, entered from Otis Streeet near Patton Avenue
On street parking is available throughout downtown Asheville. Meters typically run about $0.75 per hour but vary throughout various locations. All on street parking requires feeding the meters Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM and is free to the public on Sundays and select holidays. Citations for overtime parking range from $10.00 up to over $30.00 or towing after several unpaid offenses.
