Holiday Challenge Tip

Staying Motivated Through the Holidays

As the holiday season winds down, so does our motivation keep our holiday weight goals. We may already be packing away the holiday decorations, and our thoughts turn toward returning to work or school. Healthy eating and activity can fall to the bottom of the list as we box up the holiday season and re-open our day-to-day lives. [full story]

Eat Smart Move More Sign

Downtown on the Move Walking Routes

Have you wondered about the green Eat Smart Move More signs in downtown Asheville.  These signs mark 3 different walking routes, two 1-mile and a 2-mile.  The routes are great to help you plan how to get a little exercise into your day.  These routes are shown on our Downtown on the Move map

In addition to providing an overview of the routes, the map was designed to help people who live or work in downtown to think about how they can incorporate walking into their daily routines.  Many people don't leave their car at home or parked during the day because they believe they can't run errands or take care of business.  However, when asked, most say they would gladly walk a mile for an errand.  This map can give you a sense of distance and help you find easy-to-walk-to locations like the post office, drug store or food market.
